Sedro 10

Bowling alley.
Since the 1940s.

Downtown Sedro-Woolley’s bowling alley, still rolling on original style wood lanes. Pick a night, see the price up front and request your lane in a minute.

  1. 1940s

    The lanes go in.

Wooden lanes, pinsetters and blue-and-white seats arrive on Metcalf Street. Today you still bowl on original style wood lanes.

  2. 12 years

    The lights go out.

Fairweather Lanes closes, and Sedro-Woolley goes more than a decade without a place to bowl.

  3. 2019

    Someone saves it.

Ellie Martinez saves for two years to buy the alley, keeps the vintage details down to the original cash register, and reopens the doors in December 2019.

  4. Today

Old lanes, new bar & tables.

Boards from the alley’s previous lanes now make up the bar and the tables. Every drink and every gyro lands on a piece of Sedro-Woolley bowling history.

How Season 01 works

Never bowled? Good.

Our short guide covers picking a ball, holding it, the four-step approach and how the score works. Read it on the way over.

Read the guide
  • Pick a ball near 10% of your weight.

Weigh 150 pounds? Start with a 14 or 15 lb ball. Never go past 16.

  • Aim at the arrows, not the pins.

The arrows sit about 15 feet down the lane. The pins are 60 feet away. The closer target is the easier one to hit.

  • Let the swing do the work.

Keep your arm loose like a pendulum and follow through toward your target.
